On January 19, 2025, the 13th Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its third session in Chengdu, lasting for five days. As a member of the Sichuan CPPCC and a member of the China Democratic League, Li Hongpeng, Chairman of Yiwei Automobile, actively offered suggestions for the development of the new energy special vehicle industry.
Li Hongpeng pointed out that since the birth of China’s first new energy vehicle in 1995, China’s production and sales of new energy vehicles have led the world for ten consecutive years, demonstrating strong development momentum. New energy special vehicles, as an important part of new energy vehicles, are well-suited to the trend of electrification, given their operational scenarios and working conditions. As a region rich in commercial vehicle resources, Sichuan has inherent advantages in developing new energy special vehicles.
As an active participant in the new energy special vehicle market, Yiwei Automobile has made significant achievements in this field. The company’s annual output value has exceeded 200 million yuan, and it exports between 300 and 500 new energy special vehicles annually to more than 20 countries and regions, including the United States, Finland, Turkey, Singapore, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan, showcasing strong international market competitiveness. However, Li Hongpeng also mentioned that the sales model of domestic new energy special vehicles is undergoing a shift from traditional sales to a leasing-focused model, which presents new challenges for private enterprises. To address this, he suggested during the meeting that further financial support should be provided for the development of the new energy special vehicle industry to tackle the challenges posed by market changes, and he submitted relevant proposals.
Li Hongpeng not only leads the industry development through practical experience but also actively contributed suggestions for the new energy special vehicle industry at this provincial CPPCC meeting. He provided a valuable platform for communication regarding the development of the new energy special vehicle industry. In the future, it is believed that with strong government guidance and support, the new energy special vehicle industry will usher in broader development prospects, contributing even more to the economic and social development of Sichuan and the whole country.
