Ebooster in EVs is a new type of hydraulic linear control braking assist product that has emerged in the development of new energy vehicles. Based on the vacuum servo braking system, Ebooster utilizes an electric motor as a power source, replacing components such as the vacuum pump, vacuum booster, and vacuum hoses. It also expands intelligent control functions, providing a foundation for autonomous driving in new energy vehicles.
01 Principle of Vacuum Servo Braking System
Ebooster is developed based on the vacuum servo braking system. Let’s first understand how the vacuum servo braking system works.
In the diagram, the brake master cylinder adopts a series-connected dual-chamber design. When the driver does not press the brake pedal, the valve between the front and rear chambers of the vacuum booster opens, while the valve between the rear chamber and the atmosphere closes, isolating the internal chamber of the vacuum booster from the outside. Both chambers are filled with vacuum from the vacuum source through a vacuum one-way valve.
When the driver presses the brake pedal, the control valve opens the valve between the rear chamber of the vacuum booster and the atmosphere, while closing the valve between the front and rear chambers. As a result, the rear chamber of the vacuum booster, previously in a vacuum state, is filled with air, while the front chamber remains in a vacuum state. This creates a pressure difference between the two chambers, pushing the brake master cylinder piston forward through the diaphragm between the chambers. As a result, the hydraulic oil in the front chamber of the brake master cylinder flows directly to the front wheel brake cylinders through the brakes, generating braking force. The hydraulic oil in the rear chamber of the brake master cylinder flows to the rear wheel brake cylinders through a proportioning valve to generate braking force.
The reset of the brake pedal and vacuum booster is achieved through the deformation of the return spring inside the control valve.
The diagram shows the power source section that provides vacuum to the vacuum booster. The vacuum generated by the electric vacuum pump flows through the vacuum pipeline to the vacuum tank (backup) and the vacuum booster itself.
