As one of the central cities in the western region, Chengdu, known as the "Land of Bashu," is committed to implementing the decisions and deployments outlined in the "Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Deepening the Fight against Pollution" and the "Development Plan for the New Energy Vehicle Industry (2021-2035)" as well as the "Implementation Opinions of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and the Sichuan Provincial People's Government on Deepening the Fight against Pollution." In line with these policies, the Chengdu Ecology and Environment Bureau, along with several other departments, has jointly issued the "Implementation Plan for Intensifying Efforts to Combat Heavy Pollution Weather, Prevent Ozone Pollution, and Control Mobile Source Pollution" (hereinafter referred to as the "Implementation Plan").
According to the "Implementation Plan," by 2025, the total number of new energy vehicles in the city is expected to reach 800,000, with an ambitious target of reaching 1 million.
The "Implementation Plan" promotes the optimization of vehicle structure and specifies that all new and updated public buses, taxis, ride-hailing cars, shared cars, small automatic transmission driver training cars, sanitation vehicles (excluding those without new energy substitutes and emergency vehicles), urban logistics and delivery vehicles (excluding those without new energy substitutes), construction waste transport vehicles, and official vehicles should primarily use pure electric vehicles (or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles).
