From September 20 to 22, the 2024 Capital Returnee Innovation Season and the 9th China (Beijing) Returnee Investment Forum were successfully held at Shougang Park. The event was jointly organized by the China Scholarship Council, the Beijing Association of Returned Scholars, and the Talent Exchange Development Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It brought together numerous elite returnees and technological innovation forces to explore new pathways for technological innovation and industrial upgrading. Peng Xiaoxiao, president of the Chengdu Overseas Returned Scholars Association and partner at Yiwei Automotive, along with Liu Jiaming, sales director for North China at Yiwei Automotive, presented the “Yiwei Automotive Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project” at the forum and were awarded the 2023-2024 “Golden Returnee” award.
During the forum, several prominent guests were present, including Yu Hongjun, former deputy minister of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Meng Fanxing, member of the Party Leadership Group and vice chairman of the Beijing Association for Science and Technology; Sun Zhaohua, vice chairman of the China Scholarship Council and former executive deputy director of the National Foreign Experts Bureau; and Fan Xiufang, secretary of the Party General Branch of the Talent Exchange Development Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The forum focused on topics such as “Returnee Technology Achievement Transformation” and “Collaborative Technological Development,” aiming to establish a high-level platform for communication and cooperation, promoting deep integration of returnee talents with domestic and international resources, and stimulating innovation and entrepreneurial vitality.
The presentation of Yiwei Automotive’s project added a vibrant touch to the forum, highlighting the crucial role of returnee talents in driving the transformation and upgrading of China’s new energy special vehicle industry. It is reported that Yiwei Automotive’s core R&D team not only includes talents from domestic universities such as Tsinghua University and Chongqing University but also gathers returnee talents from overseas institutions, including those from Germany and Australia, such as the University of Applied Sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia. This diverse team composition not only injects Yiwei Automotive with innovative thinking and international perspectives but also lays a solid foundation for the company’s development in the new energy special vehicle sector.
